Rail
South West Sydney has the lowest density of rail infrastructure in Greater Metropolitan Sydney, with 12% of the city's population but with only 6% of its train stations.
LEPPINGTON TO BRADFIELD RAIL
Build the 6km rail extension between Leppington and Bradfield, allowing residents from Liverpool to access the Western Sydney International Airport and surrounding jobs.
BRADFIELD TO CAMPBELLTOWN METRO
Extend the airport metro line south from Bradfield to Campbelltown via Oran Park and Narellan, also known as the Macarthur Metro Link. The St Marys to Bradfield section is slated to open in 2027.
MACARTHUR TO PICTON / WILTON
Integrate Wollondilly into the suburban Sydney Trains network by extending the T8 Line to at least the Wilton Growth Area, as these stations remain the only non-electrified stations in Greater Sydney.
Without the Macarthur Metro Link and the electrification of stations between Campbelltown and Picton the Macarthur region risks falling 30 years behind the rest of Sydney in transport development. Additionally, Liverpool lacks rail access to the western half of its own LGA, limiting connectivity, making the Leppington to Bradfield rail extension so important.
The South West community is among the most affected by expensive tolls on major motorways like the M5, M7. With limited public transport alternatives, they are forced to rely on these costly roads for daily commutes, adding financial strain to already growing cost-of-living pressures.
Addressing these inequities through strategic investment in rail infrastructure is essential. Providing South West Sydney with the same transport opportunities as other parts of Sydney would not only promote fairness but also drive economic growth, improve productivity, and support net zero targets by reducing reliance on private vehicles.
